Staying Motivated By Staying Calorie Conscious

Looking back on when I wasn’t as active, I notice that I didn’t care  about the calorie content of foods. To be honest, I don’t think I even knew what a calorie was till I was about 17. I knew that too much pizza was bad and I was aware of other common sense foods that will lead to weight gain but that was it!

There’s so much more to it that I never knew.

Now that I do have a set gym routine and meal plan, I’m more conscious of those little details.

When you’re waiting in line to place an order or at a restaurant browsing the menu, you’re going to order without thinking of the outcome.

On the far right. Before I took my health seriously.

But when you’re getting to the gym at 5am or struggling to workout after a long work day, you will think twice about that Frappaccino or those mini cupcakes that have been staring you in the eye all day.

I don’t have such a strong will power that I turn everything tempting away… It’s the fact that I busted my ass and put in hard work and sweat earlier that morning..

When you put in that kind of effort and know what it takes to get where you are, that alone is enough to pass on that cinnamon roll or slice of pizza. One cookie doesn’t appeal to me when I see one cookie as a 30 minute treadmill run! No thanks!

I’ve found myself in situations where I’m super hungry and have the choice to indulge, but it’s just notttttt even worth it.

But don’t get me wrong, I don’t eat like a bunny 24/7. Instead I will split a cookie with a friend or pop in the kitchen in whip up a healthier version!

Trust me guys, being calorie conscious will make a huge impact on your transformation and outlook on how you see food.  Especially when making decisions on what to eat.

Knowledge is power and in this case, what you don’t know WILL kill you. Fight to be fit! I know I will fail and I still find myself in pitfalls. But I get back up! I will go down kicking and screaming for the sake of my health.

I found this chart online to help put in perspective the calories you put in your body. If you are trying to stay in a 1200-1400 calorie range per day, that cheesecake already puts you 2/3 of the way there!

It’s worth it guys… Your life IS worth it! We all owe it to ourselves to be the best we can be, not for looks or to look good in a bikini but to live long and enjoy the time we have on this Earth. Don’t sabotage yourselves. Getting into the health world and staying consistent is one of the hardest things I’ve EVER done but worth it.. Mentally, physically, socially, everything! I can’t even stress it enough!

I get so motivated and driven to help people that are stuck in a hole or feel like they can’t get themselves out but you can! I have been their too so I know!

Treat your body right and it will treat you back even better!

Happy Tuesday!

  1. The chart is definitely helpful. I’m the same way in terms of food. I have little to no self control but I know after a workout, the last thing I want to eat is a cookie or snack on anything after I just spent an hour trying to burn off all these calories.
